How long have you been a member of Johns’ Boys?
Since the very beginning – I’ve been here since the choir’s inception.
What inspired you to join the choir?
I wanted to sing high-quality music and be part of a male voice choir with real heart and talent.
Do you have any musical background or experience before joining?
Yes – I’ve previously sung in choirs and have a background in musical theatre.
What’s your favourite song to perform with the choir and why?
Gwahoddiad – the arrangement and vocal blend are simply magical. It’s always a deeply uplifting experience.
What has been the most memorable performance or event for you?
The concert at Llandaff really stood out – it was something truly special.
How would you describe the camaraderie within the choir?
There’s a fantastic sense of bonhomie and genuine friendship across all the sections – it’s a real brotherhood.
What’s the biggest challenge of being in a choir like Johns’ Boys?
Learning and practising the pieces at home can be tough, but it’s worth the effort.
Do you have a pre-performance ritual or superstition?
Yes – a quiet, focused breath “with the angels” helps me centre myself before taking the stage.
If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Glastonbury, on the Alternative Stage – what an incredible and iconic venue that would be!
What are you most excited about for the choir’s future?
I’m excited to tackle new and more theatrical pieces – the creative potential is huge.
How has being part of Johns’ Boys impacted you personally?
It’s had a real psychological benefit – being part of a close-knit group of friends has been uplifting and grounding.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about joining a choir?
Don’t be intimidated – just have a go! Try to talk to people, even if it seems busy. We always make time to welcome new members.
