How long have you been a member of Johns’ Boys?

Since 2016

What inspired you to join the choir?

I enjoyed my experience at the first Johns Boys’ Noson Lawen performance.

Do you have any musical background or experience before joining?

Bryn Coch and Alun School Choirs and Rhos Male Voice Choir.

What’s your favourite song to perform with the choir and why?

Bread of Heaven as it is a nice tribute to Gareth ‘Jam’.

What has been the most memorable performance or event for you?

Being the first (and only to date) Welsh Male Voice Choir to win Choir of the World/Cor y Byd at the 2019 Llangollen Eisteddfod.

How would you describe the camaraderie within the choir?

We have been able to form close bonds with each other because of the friendly nature of all the members.

What’s the biggest challenge of being in a choir like Johns’ Boys?

Learning new and interesting rep to a high standard.

Do you have a pre-performance ritual or superstition?

No

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Sydney Opera House because it is an iconic music venue and my family in Australia would be able to see me perform.

What are you most excited about for the choir’s future?

To travel and showcase Welsh culture around the world.

How has being part of Johns’ Boys impacted you personally?

As the choir has grown and I have got to know so many great people, some of which I call my other family, they have been a constant support through some difficult times. It is great to know there is always support there when I need it.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about joining a choir?

Don’t be afraid to give it a go.
