Llion

Name: Llion

How long have you been a member of Johns’ Boys?

Since 2025.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself — where you’re from and how you first got into singing?

I’m originally from just outside Llanrhaeadr-Ym-Mochnant, deep in Dyffryn Tanat. I grew up with quite a few good singers in the family and I always enjoyed being part of a choir either in school or Young Farmers, but as I grew up it’s something I didn’t do as much of until joining a Musical Theatre choir a couple of years ago.

What made you want to join Johns’ Boys Male Chorus?

I absolutely loved every minute of the musical theatre choir I joined, but I did miss singing some songs in Cymraeg too, so when the opportunity came up to try out for Johns’ Boys I took it!

How has your experience with the choir been so far?

It’s been incredible. From the moment I joined everyone couldn’t have been more welcoming. There has already been some “pinch me” moments, including singing at York Minster and even a short solo during a song at Wrexham (with some leg kicks)!

Do you have a favourite piece the choir performs (or one you’re most looking forward to singing)?

Very hard to pick from, but “My Little Welsh Home” will always have a special place in my heart because it was a song that my Taid used to sing (even on a record!) It was a huge coincidence that is was the first song we practiced in my very first rehearsal with Johns’ Boys.

What’s something fun or unexpected about you that the audience or choir fans might not know?

I did once upon a time have a song played on Radio 1 a couple of times, but that song wasn’t exactly serious! 🤣
