Jon Hughes

Name: Jon Hughes

How long have you been a member of Johns’ Boys Male Chorus?

Since 2025.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself — where you’re from and how you first got into singing?

Hi, I’m Jon Hughes, I’m 46 years old and I’m from Henryd, Conwy (most people know me as Jon Henryd) Married with two boys and am a Transport Supervisor for social care and education in a local authority. I first got into singing in school and joined my first male voice choir at the age 14. Since then I’ve had a wealth of singing experiences including singing in places such as Canada, America and on a Cruise Ship.

What made you want to join Johns’ Boys Male Chorus?

I decided to join John’s Boys Male Chorus because I like the way they put their own stamp on the more modern pieces.

How has your experience with the choir been so far?

It’s been a fantastic experience so far – I’ve already had the opportunity to travel to wonderful places like Edinburgh and I’m thoroughly enjoying singing pieces I never thought I’d sing.

Do you have a favourite piece the choir performs (or one you’re most looking forward to singing)?

My favourite piece that the choir performs at the moment is ‘Before You Go’ – I’ve always liked the song so to be able to sing it with the choir has been great.

What’s something fun or unexpected about you that the audience or choir fans might not know?

I’d love to own a vintage tractor one day (I’m hoping my wife reads this!)
