Elgan Davies-Jones

Name: Elgan Davies-Jones

How long have you been a member of Johns’ Boys?

Since 2025.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself — where you’re from and how you first got into singing?

I’m from Carmarthen originally. I was surrounded by music from an early age and I’ve always enjoyed performing, mostly acting and singing. My choral experience has been with mixed choirs.

What made you want to join Johns’ Boys Male Chorus?

I enjoyed working with Aled very much on the ‘Y Stand’ project for the Wrexham National Eisteddfod and was very happy to accept his invitation to join Johns’ Boys. This will be my first experience of singing in a male voice choir, something I have always wanted to do.

How has your experience with the choir been so far?

I’ve had a great time, meeting new people, learning new music and enjoying the special camaraderie that singing in a choir brings. I couldn’t have had a warmer welcome. Diolch o galon.

Do you have a favourite piece the choir performs (or one you’re most looking forward to singing)?

I am something of a musical theatre fanatic, Les Misérables and Miss Saigon being strong favourites, so singing ‘Bring Him Home’ and ‘Bui Doi’ with the choir have been very special and emotional experiences for me. I also find the new arrangements of traditional Welsh songs and hymns very inspiring.

What’s something fun or unexpected about you that the audience or choir fans might not know?

I’ll be honest, this question has stumped me! I’m a Wrexham football fan and am enjoying the amazing journey the club and city are on at the moment. I seem to have gained a few new friends that are very interested in my Season Tickets! Rugby is another great passion of mine and Cardiff trips to watch Wales are still great experiences that I enjoy very much – even during the unsuccessful recent past!
